WHAT PATCHWORK ARE YOU WORKING ON?

Recently I put a couple of photos of projects I am working on. Here are a couple more.

 
This Jelly Roll will become this quilt. but I am using a French General Jelly roll Pom Pom Du Paris.

 

I have also just finished a new Stack and Slash Star quilt ready for a class later this year. Fiona has already taken it to quilt for me. yes I booked it in early as she is so busy.

 
This is a great quick quilt perfect for a baby or boys quilt. The photo does not do the fabrics justice. they are indigos and asian reds.  Just so you can see this is the couch in my sewing room. No room for sitting!!!

 
Pies and Tarts at one end and a disappearing 9 patch from a charm quare pack at the other. The Koala was a gift from my Grandparents when I was 4.

QUILTATHON QUILTS GO TO A NEW HOME!

If you have read our earlier postings about the Quiltathon. Then you will know all about our fun project to make quilts for the Foster children of the Sunshine Coast. You can see the girls working on the quilts HERE and the finished quilts HERE. The lovely Melissa came to collect more than 14 quilts on Thursday this week and was heading straight off to deliver them.

 
This organisation do a great job making life a little more comfortable for those kids in foster care. We put each of the quilts into one of our carry bags. Here is Melissa loading the bags into her ute.

 
We are so pleased to have been able to take part in this project and have promised to do it again. We will run another free class at a later date to make more quilts.

Shabby Quilt Class

We had a class for the Shabby Quilt in the shop recently.

 
Here is a photo of Yola's quilt. She decided to make hers in denim. We think it looks great don't you. Yola is certainly a perfectionist but she was able to throw a couple of rules out the window making this one.

WHAT PATCHWORK ARE YOU WORKING ON?

Well, this is what I have been working on.

 
This is a huge floor cushion made from a Jelly roll. Only half way there so far. Have a look here for the pattern.

What is a Jelly Roll. It is 40 -42 strips of a range of fabrics 21/2" wide by width of fabric (42" -44").

Have just finished the binding on this sweet little Hexagon Quilt using 21/2" hexagons. Used up the left overs from making my Babouska Quilt. 

 

 Then appliqued the border on and did some very rustic hand quilting with a perle thread.

BIAS MAKERS ARE BACK!

Hurray, we have just got some of the electric Bias makers back in stock Hurray!!! This is such an easy way to make bias. In fact the girls used it on our QUILTATHON quilts. Perfect too for Celtic work.

This product is such fun to use and we sell them for $149.95 including 3 extra tips. They are suitable for Australian power. Haven't put them on the website but happy to take phone orders 07 5477 0700.

Another new thing is the Cutting Edge ruler.

 

This great product will help keep you blades sharp and therefore not need replacing quite so often. One edge has a diamond powder edge for sharpening and the other is perspex for regular cutting. Of course don't overdo the sharening side. !!! The ruler also has full see through non skid frosting.We have chosen to stock the 12.5" x 6.5" as this is the most used ruler by most patchworkers.
