Last Monday we took our second bus on the Quilter's Trail. This time our driver was Nikki on the right also from Noosa Hinterland Tours.
We had a great day!
But you do need to watch out for those bikini clad women at Quilt Essentials.
And for the pirates at Cooroy Drapery and Patchwork!
We are having such fun with the Quilter's Trail. Don't forget you have until the end of April to register and complete the trail to go in the draw for fabulous prizes.
We got some lovely Bali / Batik prints in the shop and we needed a quick quilt to show them off so have been madly stiching tonight. This is what I have done.
Some call it a disappearing 9 patch and you can see lots of versions of this on the Buderiim Patchwork Group Blog.
Here's how I did it. Take 4 x 10" squares in 8 colours. and 4x 10" squares in black.
Make them up into a tradional 9 patch using one black square in the centre. I have chosen to use the pink or purples in the outer corners.
Now cut the block into quarters through the centre vertical NOT corner to corner.
Now take the bottom left block and top right block and turn them so the black small square is in the outer corner. Now join the four pieces back together. This is then your block.
I made 4 units and put them together which measures about 55". Tomorrow I will add a 4.25" border (4.75" cut) of black and the same in a colour that I will choose tomorrow. Hey Presto! a Thursday night quilt top!!!
Now some time ago I made a quilt top on a friday night with a quick stack and slash technique. Chuck called it my Friday night quitl but it is really called Lazy Daisy with Rosie.
So I guess this one tonight should be called The Thursday night Quilt.
Keep on Stitching,
Hey, just thought I'd send you a link to the progress I'm making on the French Roses quilt my Nanna and I bought from your shop the other week! :-D
