PATCHWORK ANGEL WELCOMES SUE DALEY

Last week we were lucky enough to have Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busy Fingers  spend an evening in the store. All the ladies there enjoyed hearing Sue's journey in Patchwork as well as seeing lots of lovely quilts. I have been making a new Stack and Slash to show for our free class later this term and with the scraps I decided at my monthly Bossy Stitches lunch to make a pincushion using some of Sue's papers for piecing. My very favourite block is the Dresden plate so that is what I did. Do you like it? The fabrics are from Amy Butler's new range.

 

 

   

 

 

 

"Pieces of Pie" is one of our favourites.

Sue was asked to design some projects for a new fabric range " Doll's Dresses." The patterns will be out soon.

 

Paper piecing is a fun technique that is great if you love hand work. Especially if you are on holiday or travelling.

Have a look at Sue's Playing with Paper kits they are terrific.

Lynette Anderson has headed off to Houston to do the international launch of "Kittens Tale". We are pleased to say that of course we had it first!

Next week we will do a tribute to our Jacaranda which has gone to make room for the developement!

DOODLEBUGS QUILT PARTY

  On Thursday this week we had 2 parties at the shop. One in the morning and then we did it all again in the evening. The parties were to celebrate the completion of our Doodlebugs Quilts. If you love the pictures you can of course order the pattern here. 

We thought it would be fun if Team Angel got into the theme so we all wore pretty Butterfly headbands.Left to right, Jenny, Fiona and penny. Our lee was on duty at night and she escaped me getting a pitcure of her in her headband! Below, Susannah our Saturday girl (second from right) got into the theme and brought along her Mum, leigh, sister Holly, and Grandma Carol. They are all keen stitchers. In fact in all we had 5 Mother/ Daughter groups come to the parties.

The quilts were lovely and everyone enjoyed seeing how different they all looked in different colourways. Anna used the kit from the shop to complete hers.

Heather and Hazel used brights for their quilts.

 

 We played some fun games including a Treasure Hunt and a "Whose the Babe" competition. I'll put the "Whose the Babe"  Competition on the blog in a few days for you to try.

Next year we are already planning our new club "Paper Angels". That's all we're saying at the moment.

Last night we had a lovely family time and had a formal dinner at home to celebrate Toby my youngest's 20th birthday. Oh my goodness, no teenagers any more! Everyone dressed up and if I do say so myself the food was scrumptious. Lots of fun and laughter. How lucky are we to have such a fun time together as a family.

This afternoon hope to get into my sewing room.

The Gympie Quilt and Craft Spectacular

 

 We have just had a terrific time at the show in Gympie which is put on by the Gympie Rotary Club. Have a look at the photo album on the right to have a good look at the show.

 My Darling hubby, Chuck comes with me and helps with the set up etc. We try to make it a bit of a break for us too, so this time we stayed at the Garden Cottages of Anne and David. It was a lovely place to stay and we really enjoyed being able to have a spa after set up on Friday.The cottage has a rose theme right through even the front and matching back door. Chuck decided to call home to check everything was Ok. I told him to use the mobile!

I enjoyed a glass of champagne in the garden although I had changed in comfy clothes.

Have a look through the photo album and see if you can find a pic of Phoebe the elephant that was on display. Her sister was on display on our stand so they were really peased to catch up! Of course you can make your own Phoebe too.

 

Now many of you have seen the pic of Jenny our new staff member but had to show this one on Jenny and Susannah (our Saturday Girl). Sus has made herself a new head band and trimmed her jeans too! What a great idea and a way of using up pretty scraps.

 

Sus is wearing her uniform shirt which we now have for sale in store or on the website too.

Better get on with writing the new class list for term 4 and the october newsletter.
