Patchwork Angel began as a home based mail order business in 1995 with Lynette Anderson selling her original quilt patterns. With her Mum Ruth she opened the retail store in March of 1997 in our sweet little church at Forest Glen on the Sunshine Coast in beautiful Queensland, Australia.
It is the perfect building to display all our lovely quilts with the high cathedral ceilings.
In June 2006 Lynette handed over the wings to her friend of 10 years Penny Hornbuckle. Penny has worked at the store for the last 4 years and confesses to being a patchwork addict since coming to her first class at the Patchwork Angel 7 years ago. “I started my first patchwork class not long after my younger son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Our family was going through a huge adjustment time and I really needed something just for me.”
Penny explains.
Penny her husband David and sons Zac and Toby have lived on the Sunshine Coast since moving to Queensland from Victoria in 1994. Penny has been a member of the Buderim Craft Cottage Patchwork group for more than 6 years. At the store we run lots of workshops and classes with our in store tutors and in the past have had workshops with many internationally known tutors including Barri-Sue from Bareroots designs and of course Lynette Anderson.
Patchwork, my family, vegetarian cooking ( have been a vege now for more than 30 years), fine wine and pink champagne of course, can't sleep without a good book.
